3D Secure has been developed by Visa and MasterCard to improve security for CNP (Cardholder Not Present) transactions over the Internet. MasterCard’s system is “MasterCard SecureCode” and Visa’s system is “Verified by Visa”. Using this system, the cardholder must provide a personal password or pin number when paying for goods online.
